About Geoff Teall

Geoff Teall has spent decades training hunter horses and equitation riders.  He is one of the leading hunter and equitation trainers in the country.

Geoff Teall with friends Ali and Ginger.

Horses and riders who have trained with Geoff have gone on to win championships, medals, and ribbons at prestigious events like Devon, the AHSA Medal Finals, the ASPCA Maclay Finals, the Capital Challenge, the Pennsylvania National, the Washington International, the USET Talent Search, and National Horse Shows.

In 1992, Geoff joined with Louise Serio to form the American Hunter Jumper Federation (AHJF).  Geoff currently serves as AHJF President.  In 2010, he was seated on the USEF Board of Directors.

“I try to instill a sense of confidence in both my horses and in my students,” he says.  “Success does not come from luck.  It is a result of strategy and training.  Success – in the show ring and in life – comes from effective practice, meticulous preparation and a focused goal.  Increased confidence and increased success go hand in hand.”

Montoga, Inc., Geoff’s hunter barn in West Palm Beach, Florida, is his home base.  In addition to training, Geoff is an “R” judge for both Hunters and Hunter Seat Equitation.  He travels extensively in North America and Europe teaching, judging, and conducting clinics.

“It’s not necessarily the most talented riders that make the best students,” Geoff says.  “If you are serious about learning and improving, we’ll get along just fine.”
